We talked at our Starling Collaborative team meeting today about the changes occurring in our country that are starting to impact our work and our field. I came away from the conversation with deep gratitude for the team I work with and that we are in this work together. I also came out of our conversation with several insights.
The first of these is how we show up for each other right now matters and may be the deepest gift we can give to each other. We can hold space for each other in real and tender ways that impact how we navigate the challenges in our lives, in our work, in our country, and in our world. Our presence can help create capacity for each other. Our listening and creating space for each other is more powerful than we sometimes remember or know. It can feel like an act of faith to believe this.
And in order for me to be able to show up for others in the way I want to, I have to be in the best shape I can be. How do I attend to my own wellbeing in real and consistent ways so that I have something to offer others? How do I let others know that our individual healing and wellbeing is not selfish or optional? That it’s a foundation from which we can both support each other and do the work that is needed?
I feel a sense of fierceness in my desire to create and hold brave spaces for each other as we feel whatever we need to feel or wrestle with. I deeply believe that our work of creating brave spaces is needed now more than ever. It is a gift we can offer each other so we can all show up as our best selves with integrity, intention, and initiative.
Please consider reaching out to talk about how to facilitate the creation of these much needed spaces.
